OkCupid Dating: Date Singles App Reviews

This app has really gone downhill. They turned off visitors in the name of "reducing missed connections." Are you serious? Its now more of a "lets force people to send messages" so they will be bombarded by ads and seemingly unskippable game demos. If anything you are encouraging more missed connections, women that view mens profiles and are too shy to send the first messsage (and they almost never do, ask anyone actually using the site) will now never be visible to the guy, so he cant reach out to them. Its the same way the other way around. Now guys that barely get messages will be unable to see views and they wont be able to tell if their profiles are being seen. It really makes the whole experience worse for them. If you send a message to someone and get turned down/never responded to, now you can never check to see if they ever even gave you the time of day to look at your profile.

You gotta give OKC a little elbow grease. Which is good because it cuts out most of the crap. Ive maybe seen one scammer compared to Tinder where its like 8/10 of your matches are fake. Interface is great. Chat can lag a little with updating. But I mean its great. Never saw the need for A-list. Take your time, make a profile, have conversations, get to know people and see where it takes you. Dont get eager, but let things happen.

Really nice app overall

Ive been on okc since the beginning. When it was a social experiment in analytics and a real fun platform. I have made many bffs over the years! But removing the viewers tab is tantamount to betrayal. I wont pay for a-list.

For the most part I like this dating site more so than others. I just wish the search was a bit more be specific. Such as searching for people by ZIP Code, by types of relationships (like polyamorous, monogamy, sexual preference, gender preference and other alternative relationships). As well as height, weight, location, race, nationality, religion/spirituality searches. I also wish there were less fake profiles. I also noticed that OKCupid got rid of the ability to view pages that Ive liked. OKCupid also got rid of the ability to view peoples pages that have looked at my profile page. Those were great feature!! I wonder why OkCupid ended or deleted those features?

You dont have to pay to talk to people. Simple

They just took away the ability to see visitors. With as much private questions as OkC puts in there I should be able to know who has looked at my profile. This is a dying site/app...

OkCupid was a good app but considering they have now removed the visitors option so you can no longer see visitors but you can now be a paying member to see who likes you. Sad that OKCupid did this but they will tell you its awesome they did this. Goodbye OkCupid.

Taking away the visitors and visited options was a stupid move. They say its for browsing invisible being a free option now? Right... Im sure they will add in where you now have to pay to see who has visited you, like mutual likes. This is all about money and nothing else... This site and app used to be the best compared to others, now its just a big money grab. Seeing who visited you was a nice feature, means you could see people out of your normal search and possibly make a connection that way.. This invisible browsing is just bad....

The last update took away the feature of seeing people that looked at your profile.

You should reevaluate the app. Recently OKC removed the ability to see who is viewing ones page. Please bring that feature back is the best one. Thank you

Why is the icon so ugly now? Its so bad. Objectively bad.

Used to love it, because it was different from other meeting/dating apps. Still love matching with people thanks to the compatibility %, BUT NOW its not even possible to know who visited you. Whats the point of the app now? Sincerely hope this will be fixed with the next update, because I know I wont be the only one to delete OKCupid now that its nearly impossible to meet people you match with.

Without visitors this app is terrible.

TL:DR - removing "whos viewed you" (and, even more needlessly, "who youve viewed," which was handy to go back to for people not liked or bookmarked) - was a bad call. OkC used to be the one dating site/app I recommended to friends as actually worth using. I met so many amazing people thanks to its combination of features -- the questions and matching algorithm, casual vibe, profile visit tracking, etc. What happened? Are people truly so terrified of showing up as having viewed a profile that the solution is to never tell anyone theyre being checked out? (Or was the supposed problem that users were getting creeped out -- on a dating site -- just by knowing that others were viewing them?) Being notified that theyre being looked at is useful data that can lead people to discover new profiles and in some cases make the first move. "Reveal my visit" for A-list users was a fine intermediate option between total anonymity and messaging. The biggest caveat Ive had to give friends (mostly, women) in recommending OkC has been "the signal-to-noise ratio will be low and youll have to endure lots of scummy messages, but use the block feature and hang in there because the site/app really does work." I feel like its changed too much to recommend anymore. Side note: the answers to some of my questions seem to have changed (into false statements) since the last time I had an active account, years ago. Thats pretty disconcerting.

Never written a review for an app before. Had I written one a couple of years back or even months (for this app) it would have been a different story. The private browsing feature used to be that you could see other peoples profile w/o notifying them; in return you didnt get to see them either (it was optional). Now this is permanent, which makes the experience a lot less rewarding. Thing is I even checked if they had made views an A user feature (money) but thats not even the case! (Not that I would pay for that). If anything this is motivating me to just get out and meet people in real life... so I guess thats good! (Forget online dating).

There are lots of FAKE/SCAMMERS on this web site, I report them and hope u remove them 90% of ladies I communicated, turned out to be FAKE/SCAMMERS

This is unacceptable. Whats the point? If you want people to pay, and that is the only end goal, then create a useful interface. Dont just take away the only remotely helpful features so it "forces" people to pay if they want moderate usefulness. I wont pay for the a list as it is. And now the free app is just pointless.

I was a long time user of OkCupid and it has become saturated with fake profiles and catfish blackmailing scams. I wouldnt recommend using this app if youre serious about finding someone to date. If you do use OkCupid I recommend that you do not cross the line and add people to your social media profiles or video chat because they will use that media and information with the intent to blackmail you or create new fake profiles to scam other people. Be safe.
