OkCupid Dating: Date Singles App Reviews

Beware when signing up for "a list"

I tried the $9.99 a month "a-list" thing. Did it through iTunes. Then I disabled my account soon after. I assumed that meant I would no longer have to pay, but I was wrong. I didnt realize I was still enrolled until I got a receipt for the bill. So, just FYI, if you upgrade through your iTunes account, you have to go into your iTunes account settings to cancel, on top of disabling your account on OkCupid. They dont make this very clear at all. I was pretty annoyed.

No More Visitor Notices

They stopped showing people who visited your page. Its a dumb idea. Which is a bummer, because its by far my favorite dating app otherwise.

Great App but....

Been using this app on and off for years. Met some cool people. *update* The who has viewed your profile feature was very helpful until it was removed.

Was a good app. Now updated....

Seems like its now trying to force people to upgrade once again. Just when I thought they finally got it right again, where you can see who visits, it now doesnt show any of that. Youre in the dark for both who views or likes you unless you send a message. Disappointed OKC...

Turned into a cash grab

OKC was actually a halfway decent dating app. Was. Their new "features" are just a way to turn more profit. The real features have been slowly removed over the years placing more and more into the hands of A-listers, AKA people who pay for free apps for special "bonus features." BS. Now with the removal of visitors, you cant even see whos looking at your profile. This is the digital equivalent of walking into a bar where everyone is blind. You cant see whos looking at you, and no one can see youre looking at them. What a waste. I hate to see greed take over apps like this. Someone else will come along soon enough, and OKC will lose their top spot. Its the beginning of their downfall.

Visitors List Gone...so am I ??

Visitors list is the only way to really tell that women are interested you dopes. Way to ruin the app. You just became a terrible version of Tinder. You should fire whoever thought that was a good idea.

Bad review

Totally disappointed about recent changes: visitors function disappeared and when I am asked for my opinion (about harassment free site) I have only one option, instead of two or three, and Im refused the continuation of my activity until I click "agree"! OkCupid stinks!

No more visited me

Why would they get rid of this feature? It was one of the few pretty good things about the app that isnt just for A list. Why they thought this would be a good idea is beyond me. Dont update

Removal of visitors

Many reviews are expressing the same dissatisfaction for the removal of the visitors feature. The developers are combating that they are gifting us with an "A-List" feature but this isnt true. The A-List feature allowed the ability to choose who saw that you visited their profile. If they enabled the true A-List feature then that would be acceptable. Ive never written a review for an app before but this is such a poor decision on the developments behalf that a poor review was necessary.

Deleting soon

Ive been using the app on and off for years, and have met some cool people. But the recent decision to cut out key features (visitors/who youve visited) is just another bad decision in a long line of bad decisions. Its obvious that they want people to pay for A plus now, and I wont be sticking around for the next bad decision.

Meh.

All good things eventually come to an end. Decided to finally disable my account. I could roll with the punches until they got rid of visitors. My inbox went from 2+ messages a day to zero. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Removed visitors???

Why the heck would you remove visitors? Its such a strong signal when looking for matches. Im cancelling my subscription after this. What a bunch of bull.

Downgrading

Removing who visited was a major mistake. Ive never cared about invisible browsing, and looking at the comments Im sensing the same from other reviewers. Seems like this was a poorly calibrated update apparently intended to leverage additional payment from users. Unfortunate, but not surprising.

Great place

Ok Cupid is a great dating site like all of them theres a few guys who get through that aint serious but most are and speak from their heart

You want to use then pay up

I used to like this because of the in depth questions and closer profile matches, but seriously gotten bad. Why is it that you used to see who viewed your profile now that is gone. So dumb! Dating apps seem to be, hey dont find romance, just pay us more so you think you can.

Interesting

If only more users were on here for dating rather than sluttish hookups.

This app is useless now

Taking away the ability to see who visited you now makes this app useless! This is clearly a ploy to force users to pay to use this app so you can see who likes you!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Whenever I saw someone checked my page, I would visit theirs and thats usually how I matched with someone! Thanks for ruining this app just to make money!

Horrible

Horrible marketing plans to get users money by removing the "visited by" option. Now you cant even see who was even interested in reading your profile. OKC said the option had no use. Bad liars. There are many good reasons for that option. It enabled you to block a user that kept stalking your profile. Enabled you to send a message to a visitor who may have been too shy to send the first message. Ridiculous they have gotten.

Bonehead business decision...

Im not going to beat around the bush with this review. For the past couple of years, OkCupid has been the dating service that Ive used most. Ive even subscribed to their "A-List" service. This site has been slowly going downhill for a while now, but this decision to remove the ability to see who has visited your profile and which profiles you have visited is unfathomably stupid. Heres why. A visitors section shows an initial interest from other people and can influence an interaction. The people in this list could be great matches, but mightve normally been otherwise unseen due to someones set match preferences. In addition, some people might not feel confident about sending a first message and may be more comfortable waiting for the other person to initiate a conversation. Its already well known that seeing who has liked your profile is a feature hidden behind the pay wall of the sites premium A-List service. Thus, this questionable decision ultimately ends up feeling like a sad attempt to try and force users into buying the A-List package. Honestly, Ive always thought it would be a better idea if they allowed non-premium users to unlock a profile or two a day from their "liked me" list while giving A-List users access to everyone on that list immediately. This would force non-premium users to focus more on the users that they can see. But I digress, I have not seen one positive response about removing the visitors section and its pretty apparent that most users are upset by it. To the developers, listen to your subscribers and remedy this mistake before you end up losing a significant portion of us.

OKCupid is way less than OK

Revised 08/07/2017 I wrote a review a few years ago. The app was great. NOW, however, in the latest version, the decision to remove "whose visited" a profile make this app much less than even 1 star. What a stupid decision. Being a paid member was worth it as noted at the bottom of this updated review. Im canceling my subscription and doing away with this app until someone of better insight and brains add back features removed. Here is another stunning example of turning gold into sh**. Way to go... Original review 07/01/2014 Ive found and dated a couple great guys. I really like the questions used to find personal matches
